In the first of a series of blog posts for Glasgow City of Science, The Engage with Strathclyde team outline how they are gearing up for a week filled with great opportunity and insight around the latest research taking place at the university.
Engage with Strathclyde – 3rd – 6th May, 2016.
The University of Strathclyde’s flagship events programme, Engage with Strathclyde, is transforming the way the University reaches out to public, private and third sector organisations. The week of events provides an opportunity for delegates to engage in our research, by helping to identify future priorities and build relationships for future collaborations.
Now in its fifth year, Engage with Strathclyde attracts almost 2,000 delegates from over 600 organisations over the week. This year the University will host over 50 different events showcasing the latest research from across all Faculties of the University.
From large exhibitions to one-to-one consultancy sessions, each event is designed to engage, inspire and create ideas and opportunities for collaboration.
A key feature of Engage with Strathclyde is the Images of Research Exhibition, which displays the influence our research has on our world, presented through captivating images and short stories. Through the use of augmented reality app Aurasma you can see the images come to life before your eyes! This year researchers were challenged to submit images in the categories of Global Impact, Well-being, Size Matters and Innovative Engineering.
The exhibition will formally open on Tuesday 3rd May when you can join entrants, colleagues and visitors to the University for a Drinks Reception and be amongst the first to hear which are the winning and commended entries in each category. Its then over to you to vote for the overall winner which will be announced on Wednesday 15th June 2016 as part of the Glasgow Science Festival.
Visit our calendar of events to find out more about what is happening across the campus during Engage with Strathclyde.
Whatever your organisation and background, Strathclyde is open for business. Take the opportunity to come along and attend an event, visit the Images of Research Exhibition in the Technology and Innovation Centre and talk to staff about how your organisation could benefit by Engaging with Strathclyde.
