Growth for family businesses, 3D printing for medical technologies and the role of play in raising children’s attainment will be among the features of the University of Strathclyde’s award-winning Engage programme early next month.
Engage with Strathclyde, which is now in its sixth year, will host more than 50 events from 2-5 May, showcasing research and innovation from across the University’s four faculties.
The week-long series of events, provides opportunities for delegates from public, private and voluntary organisations to engage with the University, helping to identify shared priorities and build relationships that could lead to future collaborations.
The events, highlighting opportunities for collaborating with the university, are aimed at creating ideas and stimulating external partnerships.
This year’s line-up includes:
- Family Advantage: Lessons from Scotland’s Wealth Creators, an event exploring ways in which family businesses can grow and prosper
- 3D Printing for Medical Technologies, an event outlining the latest developments in bioprinting of tissues and organs
- The launch of Strathclyde’s Age-Friendly Academy, showcasing the University’s commitment to positive ageing
- Addressing the Attainment Gap Through Active Play, an event investigating how play is addressing challenges in primary schoolchildren’s health and wellbeing while raising their attainment.
Alison McFarlane, Deputy Director of Research & Knowledge Exchange Services at Strathclyde, said: “We’re looking forward to another great programme of events here on campus. The week offers a great opportunity to find out more about world-leading research and technologies, and how your business or organisation can benefit from working with us – whether you want to scale up your business, develop your people through continuous professional development, or get support for a particular project or challenge.
“We are extremely proud of our international links with businesses and organisations – partnerships which help create jobs, drive businesses, and influence education for tomorrow’s students.”
Engage with Strathclyde will also feature the annual Images of Research exhibition and competition, which illustrates the impact of the University’s research through vivid images and short stories.
The theme of this year’s competition is The Future in Focus, with entries illustrating Strathclyde’s strategic themes of: Health & Wellbeing; Energy; Advanced Manufacturing and Materials; Ocean, Air & Space; Society and Policy; Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and Measurement Science and Enabling Technologies.
The exhibition, in Strathclyde’s Technology and Innovation Centre, will open at 6pm on Tuesday 2 May, when visitors can join entrants and other guests for a drinks reception – and be among the first to find out the winning and commended entries in each category. Registration for this event can be made here.
